Based on the findings, the Anti-Doping Panel of the IHF Tribunal imposed the suspensions. The suspensions are a clear message that the IHF takes doping violations very seriously. The federation is committed to maintaining a clean and fair sport. David Smith and Maria Ivanova will not be eligible to participate in any handball events sanctioned by the IHF during their suspensions. They can appeal against the decisions to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The IHF’s stance against doping is in line with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code. The federation believes that all athletes should compete on a level playing field and that doping has no place in handball.
