Enhanced Testing Program The IHF has significantly increased the frequency and scope of its testing program, both in- and out-of-competition. Athletes will now face random and targeted testing throughout the year, utilizing state-of-the-art methods to detect illicit substances. Blood Passport System The IHF has implemented a blood passport system to monitor individual athletes’ blood profiles over time. This system allows anti-doping authorities to track changes in blood values that may indicate doping practices. Increased Sanctions The IHF has imposed stricter penalties for athletes found guilty of doping violations. First-time offenders now face a minimum two-year ban, while repeat offenders may be banned for life from handball. Education and Prevention In addition to enforcement measures, the IHF is also emphasizing education and prevention programs for athletes, coaches, and officials. The federation believes that by fostering a culture of clean sport, it can reduce the temptation and opportunities for doping. Collaboration with WADA The IHF is working closely with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to ensure the implementation of these new measures complies with global anti-doping standards. The IHF will also share data and information with WADA to enhance the effectiveness of the worldwide anti-doping system. Statement from IHF President IHF President Hassan Moustafa said, “The fight against doping is a top priority for our federation. These new measures demonstrate our unwavering commitment to ensuring that handball remains a fair and drug-free sport. We will not tolerate any form of cheating and will take the strongest possible action against those who break the rules.” The IHF’s anti-doping efforts are supported by National Handball Federations and other stakeholders in the handball community. By working together, they aim to create a level playing field for all athletes and protect the integrity of the sport.
