Witnesses described seeing huge flames shooting into the night sky as the fire consumed several apartments. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department deployed over 50 firefighters to the scene, battling the blaze for hours before bringing it under control. By daybreak, the extent of the destruction was evident. Multiple units were reduced to charred rubble, with smoke and debris scattered throughout the complex. The fire left at least 20 apartments uninhabitable, displacing dozens of families. “I lost everything,” said one resident, whose apartment was completely destroyed. “I just grabbed my kids and ran.” The Red Cross has set up temporary shelters for the displaced residents, who are now facing the daunting task of rebuilding their lives.
