The comprehensive plan outlines strategies to: * Enhance Education and Workforce Development: Partner with universities and colleges to create specialized tech programs, expand apprenticeships, and provide reskilling opportunities for displaced workers. * Support Start-ups and Innovation: Establish a dedicated technology incubator and accelerator, offer incentives for early-stage companies, and foster collaboration between startups and established businesses. * Invest in Infrastructure: Upgrade broadband connectivity, expand fiber optic networks, and establish designated “tech corridors.” * Promote Collaboration and Networking: Foster a vibrant tech community through industry events, workshops, and networking opportunities. * Capitalize on Existing Assets: Leverage strengths in healthcare, renewable energy, and national laboratories to attract tech companies related to these sectors. Mayor Keller emphasized the importance of creating a highly skilled workforce and a supportive business environment to attract and retain tech talent. “We want Albuquerque to be the place where innovative ideas are born and cutting-edge technologies are developed,” he said.
